The Crisis Nursery of Greater Rochester is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to caring for children in times of family crisis. Types of crises range from simple to catastrophic and are not limited to these examples:

Medical Emergencies
Unexpected Death
Unexpected Illness
Domestic Violence
Accidents
Homelessness
Mental Health or Substance Abuse Incidents
Legal Issues

The Crisis Nursery of Greater Rochester provides a unique service for Rochester, New York. There are many excellent organizations in Rochester that provide assistance to individuals in need, but none like the Crisis Nursery. Some situations that require a facility like the Crisis Nursery include the following.

A family has a car accident and the parents both require medical attention. The children are medically fine yet they do not have any family/friends living in the Rochester community. The children simply need a place to go for several hours until family can travel to Rochester to pick up the children and take them home.
A caregiver requires medical treatment or surgery and has no child care options. The Crisis Nursery will care for children until the caregiver can be released and resume child care.
A caregiver is experiencing a great deal of stress and is unable to safely care for his or her child. The Crisis Nursery will provide a safe haven for the child in order to avoid a potentially harmful situation for that child.
